Extrusion is a thermo-mechanical refinement process in which the raw material to be extruded, such as grain or proteins, is pressed through a previously-defined opening, using pressure and temperature. At Crespel & Deiters, extrusion is the refinement technology for implementing new innovative trends for food and petfood. Many product developments, such as novelties and products in veggie and vegan ranges, would not even be possible without extrusion. And our extruded pregelatinised flours are the basis for milk replacers in the animal feed industry, in addition to being used in technical applications.

Extrusion of wheat: Textured wheat proteins

Extrusion of cereals and proteins: Crispies

Our Crispies, made from extruded cereals or extruded vegetarian proteins, provide a delicious, crunchy taste experience in the chocolate industry, for breakfast cereals, muesli bars, yoghurt toppings, and many other applications. They also support the targeted nutritional profile of the end-consumer product.

Our High Protein Crispies Lory® IsoCrisp ensure a high protein and nutritional content. Lory® IsoCrisp High Protein Crispies are extrudates made from the valuable proteins of wheat, whey or milk.

Extrusion of cereals: Crumbs

Our crumbs are extruded starch products. They coat vegan and vegetarian products, veggie meat and fish, snacks, baked goods and meat and fish products as crisp breading with lots of crispness.

Extrusion of wheat:

Pregelatinised flour from Crespel & Deiters is extruded wheat flour with optimised swelling properties. This, and its good digestibility, make it an ideal binder in petfoods and milk replacers.
