Wheat starch and pregelatinised flours for a variety of different industrial applications.

Wheat-based raw materials are found in many products of the industrial production, such as wheat starch and pregelatinised flours, which are used as degradable binding agents or stabilisers. When they are processed into highly functional products or industry-specific solutions, wheat starch and pregelatinised flours offer numerous application benefits and increase the environmental-friendliness of the end consumer products.

Thanks to the use of our sustainable solutions, such as wheat starch and pregelatinised flours, which are based on the natural renewable raw materials of wheat, existing products are improved, new products are developed and customer procedures are optimised when it comes to end-consumer product manufacturing. The further development of the production and the products for the customer can lead to a stabilisation of the production processes, an increase in energy efficiency, a reduction in operating costs and a competitive advantage in the market. Apart from this, by using the sustainable product solutions such as functional wheat starches and extruded pregelatinised flours, petrochemical and synthetic ingredients are substituted. In this way, C&D Technical Applications with pioneering solutions makes an important contribution to making industrial production processes and products more ecological or enables sustainable recycling management.

Wheat starch and extruded pre-gelatinized flours for technical applications with Crespotec® Bind | Crespel & Deiters

Pelletising

The application of C&D Technical Applications products, modified wheat starch and extruded pregelatinised flours, reduces the abrasion of pellets, prevents dust formation and thus blockages of conveyors. The use of our products reduces energy costs and the wear and tear of machinery. Therefore the use of our binding agents has a positive effect on pellet quality and process costs.

Coating

Our Crespotec® Coat products have very good film-building and elastic properties. The products made from wheat starch and extruded pregelatinised flour are particularly helpful for coating something temporarily in addition to ensuring that it is biodegradable. As a seed coating they provide the grain with additional nutrients and at the same time protect it from harmful environmental influences. When it comes to combating weeds, Crespotec® Coat can suffocate certain plants specifically, by coating them like a pesticide would.

Glueing and Binding

Our binding agents on the basis of modified wheat starch and extruded pregelatinised flours are suited for a number of different glueing and binding procedures, e.g. fibre injection moulding, compressed air injection procedure, vacuum suction procedure, air-laid procedure or also lamination. The application of synthetic adhesives is expected to increasingly being substituted by ecologically sustainable solutions.

Mixing and Compounding

The products of C&D Technical Applications serve not only as binding agents but also as emulsifiers or dispersing aids. Modified wheat starches have the effect that, when mixed with water, individual components of the formulation can be prepared more easily and quickly to form a homogeneous dispersion. In clay colours, our products contribute to the most even distribution of the colour pigments.

Wheat starch and extruded pre-gelatinized flours for the technical application in briquetting with Crespotec® Compact | Crespel & Deiters

Briquetting

C&D Technical Applications’ products for the fuels sector have environmentally sustainable, carbon-neutral, low-odour and low-smoke combustion properties. The use of binders, which form harmful combustion products, can therefore be dispensed with in favour of health and the environment.

Crespotec® Compact
Wheat starch and extruded pre-gelatinized flours for the technical application in compacting and granulating procedure Crespotec® | Crespel & Deiters

Granulating

Valuable substrates are often present in dusty or slurry forms, that make them difficult or impossible to re-use. Thanks to the binding power of the application-specific C&D Technical Applications products made of wheat starch in compacting and granulating procedures, valuable materials can be made available for re-use in a sustainable and economically feasible manner. This way, natural resources can be preserved.

Wheat as natural resource

Crespotec® Agglo

Crespotec® Agglo is a binding agent for technical applications in the agglomeration of a variety of different substances (particles and/or fibres) with the aim of improving the physical properties of these substances for further application (e.g. storage, transport, thermal use, recycling, nutrient release control).

Crespotec® Agglo is often used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. foundry industry, chemical industry, fertilizer industry).

Here, the agglomeration processes are usually performed on so-called pelleting plates, in granulation mixers or in a spray-dry procedure. A prerequisite for the best possible functionality would be a preferably homogeneous mixing into the raw material that is to be agglomerated.

Crespotec® Bind

With its high swelling capacity and adhesive strength, Crespotec® Bind is used as a binding agent in a number of different systems. The product can be used in both aqueous and water-deficient systems with the aim of binding particles and/or fibres together.

Crespotec® Coat

Crespotec® Coat is a binding agent for technical applications used for coating a variety of different granules. This is done with the purpose of improving the physical properties and modes of action of these granules for further application (e.g. protection against external influences, control of nutrient release, growth promotion).

Crespotec® Coat is frequently used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. chemical industry, fertilizer industry).

Here, the coating processes are usually performed in a so-called dry-spray procedure or in granulate mixers.

Crespotec® Compact

Crespotec® Compact is a binding agent for technical applications in the compacting of a variety of different substances (biogenic or mineral particles or fibres), used for improving the physical properties of these substances for further application (e.g. storage, transport, thermal use, recycling).

Crespotec® Compact contributes significantly to the improvement of the green and final strength of compresses, reducing abrasion and breakage. The use of Crespotec® Compact also reduces equipment wear and energy consumption.

Crespotec® Compact is often used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. fuel industry, foundry industry, chemical industry, fertilizer industry). Crespotec® Compact burns in an environmentally friendly, CO2-neutral way and is low in odour and smoke.

The compacting processes are usually carried out on so-called die presses (flat and ring-shaped design), roller presses (briquette and/or pupil), vibro presses or punch/chamber presses. A prerequisite for the best possible functionality is a mixing as homogeneously as possible into the raw material to be compacted.

We have developed a special online calculation tool for the optimal dosage of binder and water, the Crespotec® Compaction Optimiser.

Crespotec® Form

Crespotec® Form is a binding agents for technical applications for the production of moulds or mouldings (e.g. exothermically reacting feeder systems, core or moulding sand, core coatings, insulation protection plates, packaging aids).

Crespotec® Form is biodegradable and, as a renewable raw material, it is very sustainable, when considered from an ecological vantage point. Crespotec® Form is frequently used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. foundry industry, chemical industry, packaging industry). Crespotec® Form burns in an environmentally-friendly, CO2-neutral way and is low in odour and smoke.

Usually the application is done in so-called vibration/press, core shot, vacuum/suction or fibre injection processes. A prerequisite for the best possible functionality would be a preferably homogeneous mixing into the raw material that is to be moulded.
