Wheat starch and pregelatinised flours for a variety of different industrial applications.
Wheat-based raw materials like wheat starch and pregelatinised flours are used as degradable binding agents and stabilisers in industrial production. These materials, when processed into functional products or industry-specific solutions, offer application benefits and enhance the environmental-friendliness of end products.
Our sustainable solutions, based on renewable wheat raw materials, improve existing products, develop new ones, and optimise customer manufacturing processes. This leads to stabilised production, increased energy efficiency, reduced costs, and competitive advantages. Additionally, they replace petrochemical and synthetic ingredients, helping C&D Technical Applications contribute to more ecological industrial processes and sustainable recycling management.
Benefits of using the C&D Technical Applications products:
- Pelletising
- Glueing & Binding
- Briquetting

Pelletising
The application of C&D Technical Applications products, modified wheat starch and extruded pregelatinised flours, reduces the abrasion of pellets, prevents dust formation and thus blockages of conveyors. The use of our products reduces energy costs and the wear and tear of machinery. Therefore the use of our binding agents has a positive effect on pellet quality and process costs.

Glueing and Binding
Our binding agents on the basis of modified wheat starch and extruded pregelatinised flours are suited for a number of different glueing and binding procedures, e.g. fibre injection moulding, compressed air injection procedure, vacuum suction procedure, air-laid procedure or also lamination. The application of synthetic adhesives is expected to increasingly being substituted by ecologically sustainable solutions.

Briquetting
C&D Technical Applications’ products for the fuels sector have environmentally sustainable, carbon-neutral, low-odour and low-smoke combustion properties. The use of binders, which form harmful combustion products, can therefore be dispensed with in favour of health and the environment.
Our Crespotec® product solutions at a glance

Our Crespotec® products are made from GMO-free, regionally cultivated wheat. Innovative processing at Crespel & Deiters creates wheat starches and pregelatinised flours with specific properties for various industrial applications. Using Crespotec® products enhances process efficiency and reduces the ecological footprint in industrial production
More information on the possibilities offered by the natural renewable wheat can be found here:
Crespotec® Agglo
Crespotec® Agglo is a binding agent for technical applications in the agglomeration of a variety of different substances (particles and/or fibres) with the aim of improving the physical properties of these substances for further application (e.g. storage, transport, thermal use, recycling, nutrient release control).
It’s often used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. foundry industry).
Here, the agglomeration processes are usually performed on so-called pelleting plates, in granulation mixers or in a spray-dry procedure. A prerequisite for the best possible functionality would be a preferably homogeneous mixing into the raw material that is to be agglomerated.
Crespotec® Bind
With its high swelling capacity and adhesive strength, Crespotec® Bind is used as a binding agent in a number of different systems. The product can be used in both aqueous and water-deficient systems with the aim of binding particles and/or fibres together.
Crespotec® Compact
Crespotec® Compact is a binding agent for technical applications in the compacting of a variety of different substances (biogenic or mineral particles or fibres), used for improving the physical properties of these substances for further application (e.g. storage, transport, thermal use, recycling).
Crespotec® Compact contributes significantly to the improvement of the green and final strength of compresses, reducing abrasion and breakage. The use of Crespotec® also reduces equipment wear and energy consumption.
Crespotec® Compact is often used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. fuel industry, foundry industry). It burns in an environmentally friendly, CO2-neutral way and is low in odour and smoke.
The compacting processes are usually carried out on so-called die presses (flat and ring-shaped design), roller presses (briquette and/or pupil), vibro presses or punch/chamber presses. A prerequisite for the best possible functionality is a mixing as homogeneously as possible into the raw material to be compacted.
We have developed a special online calculation tool for the optimal dosage of binder and water, the Crespotec® Compaction Optimiser.
Crespotec® Form
Crespotec® Form is a binding agents for technical applications for the production of moulds or mouldings (e.g. exothermically reacting feeder systems, core or moulding sand, core coatings, insulation protection plates, packaging aids).
Crespotec® Form is biodegradable and, as a renewable raw material, it is very sustainable, when considered from an ecological vantage point. Crespotec® Form is frequently used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries (e.g. foundry industry). Crespotec® Form burns in an environmentally-friendly, CO2-neutral way and is low in odour and smoke.
Usually the application is done in so-called vibration/press, core shot, vacuum/suction or fibre injection processes. A prerequisite for the best possible functionality would be a preferably homogeneous mixing into the raw material that is to be moulded.
Crespotec® Rheo
Crespotec® Rheo is a rheological additive and it simplifies the dispersion of finest particles in aqueous systems. Especially colour pigments and finest mineral substances can be dispersed easily. This property can be used in the production of dispersion or natural colours. In this application, Crespotec® Rheo also contributes to the binding and abrasion resistance of the colours. Depending on the composition of the colours, a water-repellent effect can also be achieved. Crespotec® Rheo also serves as a co-emulsifier in oil/water emulsions. The stabilisation of the emulsions takes place at low to high fat contents by interfacial stabilisation.
Crespotec® Rheo is also used to thicken emulsions for the production of deep wells.
Crespotec® Rheo is biodegradable and, as a renewable raw material, it is very sustainable, when considered from an ecological vantage point. Crespotec® Rheo is frequently used as a substitute for petro-chemically-based additives in a number of different industries.
The mixing and processing is usually carried out in mixing vessels or tanks. Different tools (e.g. propeller stirrer, dispersion discs, pin whirler) are used. The prerequisite for the best possible functionality is a mixing of the system components as homogeneously as possible.
Crespotec® Textile
Crespotec® Textile is a wheat starch product for laundry services and for the textile industry.
Crespotec® Textile can be boiled before use or used in the raw starch process. It is easily washed in and spreads quickly and evenly throughout the fabric.
In addition, Crespotec® Textile has good gliding properties in the ironer and does not stick to the bare surfaces of the ironer, giving the textiles a pleasant satin sheen.
