The foundation stone was laid more than 20 years ago, with combined heat and power (CHP). With an energy conversion efficiency rate of 90 %, the CHP plant of Crespel & Deiters, which is operated with natural gas, attains the highest possible energy yield with simultaneous power generation in the form of electricity and hot gas. By comparison: Traditional centralised power generation only operates at a rate of 30 to 40 per cent efficiency.
As such, Crespel & Deiters is not only able to cover all electricity and heat requirements for production; it also feeds about 3,400,000 kWh of electricity into the public power grid annually.
In 2016, Crespel & Deiters was awarded the first EnergieInnovationsPreis. NRW by EnergieAgentur NRW. The EnergieAgentur.NRW intends this new award to recognise companies that can demonstrate successful, innovative projects in the field of energy management systems.
“Crespel & Deiters’ submission demonstrated that an energy management system yields successes for climate protection and makes economic sense. Furthermore, the tool is embodied throughout the entire organisation. 200 employees are trained on the subject of energy annually,” Johannes Remmel, Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Conservation and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia praised the company.
Apart from energy training, in cooperation with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Crespel & Deiters trains so-called energy scouts. The energy scouts are apprentices who have received multi-day training sessions from the CIC that has the purpose of searching for energy saving measures within the context of their activities in their company. These energy savings measures are presented within the framework of presentations at the CIC.
